Is it just me or does anyone else think books should be rated? I can say that I've never seen a rated R movie, but I can't say that I've never read a rated R book. In fact, I'm pretty sure that a large portion of the books I've read over this past year would have been rated R. I try to skim over things but I'm pretty sure it doesn't make that much of a difference. I have been swearing up a storm lately and I'm going to go ahead and blame it on the books. (Because I like to shirk responsibility like that.) Now I know I can't claim that I've always made the most pristine of vocabulary choices, but my customary hells and damns are nothing compared to the words that have been popping out of my mouth as of late. (But does it really count if you're in your car and the radio's blasting and no one's around to hear you?) In an attempt to clean up my act I banned myself to only LDS books... But let's be honest, that's just not cutting it. So, tell me, have you read any good books lately?

You can be my friend on goodreads.com :) That's where you can get book ratings from your friends. I've gotten lots of good book ideas from there.
You are blogging up a storm.
Love it.
Hmmm, the books I am currently reading are:
The Hiding Place
Mans Search for Meaning
Eat, Love, Pray
The Problem of Pain
Twighlight series (for the oh, tenth time)
I find them all good, but that's me.
I like the classics. Next on my list is A Tale of Two Cities. I'm loving your blog binge.
"My name is Asher Lev"
and the sequel
I couldn't put either down until they were done
I tried Prep..you shouldn't. No good.
Hey Jen! I was having the same problem. Here's my list of G to PG13 rated books that I really liked:
-Book of a Thousand Days
-Keturah and Lord Death
-The Enoch Letters
-Lovely Bones
-Twilight series is a must!
And on my shelf waiting to be read are:
-Princess Academy
-Life of Pi
-The Host (that one actually comes out next week)
Hope that helps:) Congrats on Arizona!
Love, Whitney
you should for sure read life of pi and the twilight series if you haven't already. they're refreshingly clean. if you're into the history thing, 1776 is great. the hiding place is great too. i also loved LOVED the fountainhead (though it's def a PG-13 selection). anything by jane austen... and i think that's a great starting point. just promise me you'll NEVER read the pillars of the earth by ken follet. it's prob that WORST thing i've ever read.
Hey Jen, I just read a great book called These is my Words by Nancy Turner. Excellent. Also, I agree with the other comments that The Hiding Place is a great read. Stephenie Meyer is coming out with The Host on Tuesday so that should be pretty good. Good luck!
Hey...I love to read so I will share my great reads with you. (How are you by the way?)
So first I love books that are based on true facts. It's the history teacher in me...so if you hate those kinds of books you might hate these. However, some are not true, but good. Here is a short list:
-Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee
-The Autobiography of Helen Keller
-Anything by Mark Twain (but if you are trying to stay away from colorful language he might not be the one to read)
-Things falling apart
-The Golden Compass
-The Poisonwood Bible
I have this obsession with Africa as of late...and there is this great textbook out there you could read :)
Hey hope things are good!!!
Stay away from "Catcher in the Rye"
I have the wedding predictions somewhere....it will try to find it and send an email out with all the results. I think soon we will be able to crown a winner.
i miss your h---s and d---s!
i'm rereading the abram's daughters series by beverly lewis. its amish--nothing colorful there!
i just read your other posts. (wow!)
remember when we were roommates and wanted to go live with boys rather than put up with all the junk from our apartment? i still think boys are better.
Jennifer, you never cease to amaze me. I've never head these questionable words come out of your mouth. So next time I see you if you could just let one slip for me I might feel that I know you just a little bit better. -Jeni
At least it takes books to get you cursing. I don't even need the book for that...unfortunately it comes with the territory of raising a family. I miss you. So glad we can keep in touch this way.
